Right then, that’s it from this game but the action continues in the Caribbean Premier League, 2023 as the carnival now moves to Guyana. The Guyana Amazon Warriors will take on the Jamaica Tallawahs in a couple of days from now on September 14th at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. That game will begin at 4.30 am IST (11.00 pm GMT, the previous day). But as know, you can always join us early for the build-up. Until then, goodbye and cheers!
Mark Deyal, the Player of the Match, for his fine fifty praises the almighty for his knock. Says that it is special to get it in front of the home crowd. Adds that the good part of the team is that everyone enjoys each other success. Shares that he was advised by Dwayne Bravo to take some time early on and it did wonders for him. Mentions that Pooran also gave him a lot of confidence. Closes by saying that they are playing a really good brand of cricket and everyone is putting their hands up.
Time for the post-match presentations...
Earlier today, the Saint Lucia Kings were asked to bat first and they posted a reasonable score of 167 in their allotted overs on the back of an unbeaten 72 off 52 from Colin Munro. Roston Chase and Sean Williams made handy contributions and took the Kings to a fighting total. The Knight Riders were tidy with the ball and did not give away much. Waqar Salamkheil, Jayden Seales, and Sunil Narine chipped in with one apiece while Akeal Hosein was economical. Russell and Ali Khan were taken for 57 in their five overs and gave away a bit more than they would have wanted.
Saint Lucia Kings bowlers' tried hard but did not have a huge score to defend on this pitch. Alzarri Joseph was the most impressive of the Kings' bowlers with 2 wickets while Chase chipped in with one. Matthew Forde bowled an economical spell upfront but the Trinbago Knight Riders were too strong for them. Saint Lucia Kings slump to their third loss but are very much in contention for the playoffs spot.
Another emphatic win for the Trinbago Knight Riders who get over the line by 7 wickets. Chasing 168 for the win, the Trinbago Knight Riders lost Guptill and Pooran inside the Powerplay. Mark Deyal and Lorcan Tucker added an outstanding 87 for the third wicket and got the game in their control. Mark Deyal departed after making a fine 45-ball 57 but Tucker batted through and remained unbeaten on 38. Andre Russell (25* off 12) provided the finishing touches and took the Knight Riders home with 7 balls to spare. This win ensures the Trinbago Knight Riders a top-two finish.
